Site Selection Guide
This page is designed to help our campers find the exact right site or combination of sites for their needs.
First A Little Context: Each of our sites is unique, and each one will have pros/cons when compared to other Zen Acres sites. This information is designed to help you compare our sites, based on specific characteristics. For example, if a site is marked with 2 stars in the category of size or seclusion, that does NOT mean the site is small or right on top of the next site. It simply means that if that characteristic is very important to you, you will likely find one of our other sites even more to your liking.

Definition of Characteristics:
Distance To Creek: This is an approximation of the distance to the main creek access of the large creek. Note, the Clear Creek (the big creek) runs all along the camping area, so many sites are much closer to the creek itself. However these portions of the creek are about 12' above the water with a relatively steep drop. They are great view spots, and provide soothing sounds (which can be heard in many of the campsites), but these locations are not suitable to get down to the creek level and get in the water. When we say creek access, what we mean is the trail that leads down to the beach area where you can touch the water, wade, hike up and down the creek at water level, etc...
Privacy / Seclusion: This category is trying to communicate a “feeling”. It involves a multitude of factors including distance to road, distance between, and (most importantly) how well the “green wall” has developed so far. We do a lot of strategic design to make each site feel as private as possible. The long-term goal is for every camper to not be able to see their neighboring site at all, and to barely be able to notice if someone walks past the site on the road. Some sites are closer to that goal than others, as we continue to plant new trees/shrubs, and encourage their growth.
Kids (2-8): Our entire campground is very kid friendly. So, this is certainly an area where we are not saying any site is “bad” for kids. However, the creek frontage throughout most of the property is a ~12’ drop off. For that reason, we consider the creek side of the road for the sites that are relatively close to the creek to be 3 stars rather than 4 for kids of that age. Personally I would camp in these sites all day long with my grandkids (18 months to 7 years old), but for those who want just a little more room to let them roam, they may prefer one of the 4 star kid sites.
RV – Towed vs. Motorized: I do my best to consider that different people have different experience and comfort driving their RV’s. Some of the sites may be a bit of a tight squeeze to hook a pull behind trailer around a tree or two, where a towed RV’s have a greater ability to level from front to back. So as long as the parking is fairly level side to side, a towed trailer can address a front to back slope easily. Though motorized RV’s (motorhomes and vans) hook into a tighter gap more easily, they have a harder time correcting a slope (even front to back). That is the reason I split these two categories.
