What Lies Ahead
In keeping with our spiritual philosophies, this entire project will be a slow, steady, incremental work in progress. Though our dreams are ambitious, our approach will remain balanced and mindful of the journey. We own and operate three small businesses and work full-time, so this is a side project that occupies our evenings and weekends. We take great care to keep the process an enjoyable pursuit.
The Dream
In total we imagine having 10-12 standard campsites, and 1 or 2 areas for small groups (15-20). We prefer to focus on quality over quantity. I hate campgrounds who put people on top of each other. Also we don’t like the vibe of crowds, and want to keep the feeling quiet, peaceful, and semi secluded. Ultimately, we want to have fewer sites with more amenities (covered areas, outdoor kitchen, sleeper cabins, and stuff like that), so over time even the individual campsites may see such improvements.
2023 Plan
Our current plan is to finish the group camping area and add 2 or 3 new standard sites (for a total of 5 or 6) fairly early in the season. It is possible we will try to bring another standard site or two online later in the year. We also have a lot of ongoing infrastructure upgrades and developments we hope to make significant progress upon this year. Though many of these won’t be completed in 2023, we hope to make solid headway on most or all of the following projects:
-
Continued improvements to the road into the camp area. (Ongoing)
-
A self-check in area with a self-serve firewood stand. (Completed 7/1/23)
-
A designated parking area at the entrance for wifi access. (Completed 6/20/23)
-
Upgrades to the main creek access (beach) area.
-
Improved bathroom facilities (currently just a couple porta-potties).
-
Easier access to potable well water.
-
More picnic tables and other improvements in the common use areas. (Completed 6/5/23)
2024 & Beyond
We will continue working on the above list in subsequent years. We will also start devoting serious energy toward some of the more ambitious projects such as:
-
· Adding sleeper cabin structures to some sites that will be available as addon options.
-
· Some type of gathering structure (large yurt, pole building, etc..) for indoor activities and meetings.
-
· Addition of covered areas and/or outdoor kitchens to some standard campsites.
-
· Expansion of solar array and DC power to some areas.
-
· RV dump station
-
· Enhanced on-site recreational activities (particularly for kids) such as play structures, lawn style games, volleyball net, or possibly even an archery range.
